Safety Campaign Aims to Reduce Alabama Distracted Driving

The Alabama Car Accident Lawyers with Norris Injury Lawyers explain that distracted driving is causing more motor vehicle collisions than ever before. Data from the state’s attorney general indicates that last year alone, more than 1,000 accidents were attributed to the behavior. These crashes resulted in ten motorists losing their lives and another 362 being seriously injured.

In an effort to help prevent distracted driving accidents, the Alabama Attorney General, Luther Strange, is participating in an event called “Drive 4 Pledges”.

According to FOX 6 News, Strange visits schools to discuss the dangers of distracted driving and gives students a chance to pledge to avoid texting and driving.

Strange visited Gardendale High School as part of the program and offered participants boxes that can be used to hold phones while they drive. Furthermore, AT&T was on hand to promote a new smartphone application that automatically responds to texts and calls for a driver.

So far, the program has been seen as a success. Hundreds of motorists have signed pledges to refrain from using a cellphone while driving.

Norris Injury Lawyers’ team of Alabama Personal Injury Lawyers applauds the efforts made to eradicate distracted driving and urge others to do their part to stay safe behind the wheel by putting phones down when driving.
