Two Killed in Separate North Alabama Single-Vehicle Crashes

Two single-vehicle crashes just days apart have claimed the lives of two north Alabama men. According to a Times-Daily article, the most recent accident occurred around 8:00 AM Sunday along Alabama 64.

Reports by Alabama state troopers say that the 48-year-old man was heading west in his 1996 Saturn sedan, when he veered off the right side of the road and struck a power pole about five miles east of Lexington in Lauderdale County. The man was declared dead at the scene from blunt force trauma by the county’s assistant coroner.

This was not the first fatal accident in the area this week though.

On Thursday, another male driver was killed in Lauderdale County, just north of St. Florian, after being involved in a single-vehicle crash. The driver was on Butler Creek Road when officials say he lost control of his Toyota 4Runner, crossed the roadway, ran over a mailbox and through a ditch before going airborne and slamming into a tree on the east side of the road.

The number of fatal crashes in the state has been on a sharp incline compared to numbers from this time last year. Troopers say that 51 fatalities have been reported across the state this year, compared to the 42 reported this time last year.

The Alabama Car Accident Attorneys with Norris Injury Lawyers would like to send their condolences to the families of those that were killed.
