For most people, the inability to remember anything prior to waking up resembles something from the movies. For one Birmingham man, however, this scenario is reality.
According to WAFB 9 News, the victim was on a ladder organizing supplies when the ladder suddenly lost its footing and sent the victim falling to the floor. The man stated the next thing he remembered was an employee waking him up. He was rushed to a local hospital, where it was determined he had suffered a serious concussion.
Following the accident, the victim’s ability to remember what had gone on throughout his day began to slip away. The problem culminated with the victim waking up believing it was the morning of the accident and unable to remember anything prior to waking up.
The man remains in the cycle with no answers from medical professionals other than the victim’s memory could come back at any moment. Until then, the victim’s wife must constantly remind him of his condition, while he sends himself notes and emails as reminders for important events.
The victim’s condition leaves him collecting Birmingham Social Security Disability benefits due to his inability to work. With his wife attending school while working, paying bills has become extremely difficult.
