Settlement Reached in 111 Transvaginal Mesh Failure Lawsuits

Settlement Reached in 111 Transvaginal Mesh Failure Lawsuits

by Norris Injury Lawyers | February 17th, 2015

Thousands of women have been harmed as the result of transvaginal mesh implants to treat certain medical conditions. Now, it seems as though those individuals are beginning to receive the compensation through vaginal mesh failure lawsuit settlements.

One of the most recent settlements is between manufacturer, Johnson & Johnson, and 111 patients harmed by the company’s Mentor ObTape Transobturator Sling. According to an article from drugwatch, the financial terms of the settlement are not currently being disclosed.

The settlement will lay to rest the case that had been condensed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia and comes on the heels of the company reaching settlements in several other cases in Sept. and Oct. 2014.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Johnson & Johnson maintains their medical devices are safe for use, despite having pulled the products from the market in 2006.

There are still hundreds of transvaginal mesh failure cases pending decisions.

At Norris Injury Lawyers, we hope the settlements reached in these transvaginal mesh failure cases will help bring closure to the patients affected. Our Birmingham personal injury lawyers would also encourage anyone who has suffered an injury as the result of a transvaginal mesh failure to consider speaking with a qualified attorney.
