OSHA Investigating Selma Plant Due To Reports of Environmental Injury

by Staff Blogger | May 27th, 2014

There are countless dangers of environmental injury employees can face while on the job, depending on the line of work they are in. One of the most common risks though is exposure to toxic chemicals that are used at the job site, and one Alabama car part manufacturing plant is coming under fire for putting its workers in such a danger.

According to an article released by the Insurance Journal, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating whether exposure to chemicals at the Renesol plant in Selma, Alabama, is responsible for the respiratory issues some 90 workers at the facility are reporting. They believe exposure to the chemical used in the car seat manufacturing process is responsible for their symptoms that resemble Asthma, which can include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Wheezing
  • Excessive coughing
  • Intercostal retractions
  • Rapid Pulse
  • Chest Pains
  • Decreased Alertness and confusion

Situations like this leave many workers wondering what rights they have to compensation for their health conditions, and the Birmingham personal injury attorneys with Norris Injury Lawyers explain that speaking with qualified legal representation about your case is the best way to make that determination.
